Media projects

Lapwing run a range of media projects throughout the year for our young people to get involved in. These are fantastic opportunities to get creative, develop social skills, work in a team and develop some technical skills.

Sweded Movie projects (July 25 & January 23)

Sweded (Urban dictionary): Re-making something from scratch using whatever you can get your hands on!

In July 25 James’ sweded movie trailer was produced after a 6-month labour of love involving production paperwork, planning, shooting and editing. James learned and applied set design, model making, chroma key ("green screen"), rag doll  / puppetry work, forced perspective planning and lots more! James’s remake of ‘Maximum Overdrive’ can be viewed here.

In January 23 four students successfully produced their own sweded movies. This involved plenty of team work as well as making models, set creation, practical effects, in-shot tracking (a type of animation), chroma key or “green screen”, video layering, audio editing, forced perspective and live action.

Lily produced ‘Thunderbirds’ - to watch click here.

Alfie, CJ and Stevie produced ‘The Conjuring’ - to watch click here.

Throughout November and December 2020 seven Lapwing students joined forces to work collectively on creating, editing and producing ‘The Mixture Podcast’ as part of Lapwing’s six week group media project.
